Hillsborough Township has promoted four police officers to sergeant.
HILLSBOROUGH - The Township Committee recently promoted four police officers to sergeants. The promotions took place at the March 9 committee meeting.
Those promoted were Sgt. David Fisher, Sgt. Richard Evans, Sgt. John Carney and Sgt. Frederick Wacker.
"We have seen a lot of movement within our police department as of late, and we are fortunate to have the depth of experience within the Department for these promotions," Mayor Frank DelCore said prior to the swearing in ceremony. "We have 80 years with of experience that we are promoting this evening."
The officers were joined by their families, Chief of Police Darren Powell, Committeewoman Gloria McCauley and Committeeman Greg Burchette, both liaisons to Public Safety, for the swearing-in and pinning ceremony.

Fisher, who had been a corporal, joined the department 23 years ago and spent his first few years in the Patrol Division. He then moved to the Investigative Division for two years and then moved back into patrol, where he is currently serving.
Evans, a former det. corporal, is a 20-year department veteran and also spent his first few years in the Patrol Division. He moved to the Investigative Division and was the School Resource Officer from 1999-2002.
Evans then went back to patrol for five years before moving to the Investigative Division where he is currently serving in the Juvenile Investigative Division.
Carney, who had been an officer, joined the department 19 years ago in the Patrol Division. He moved to the Services Division for nearly five years then to the Investigative Division and back to patrol, where he is currently serving.
Wacker, who had been a corporal, started 18 years ago in the Patrol Division. He moved into the Services Division in the Traffic Bureau and after five years there went back to patrol briefly. He currently is serving in the Traffic Bureau within the Services Division.
