Bicyclist was struck at the intersection of South Main Street and Van Neste Place in Manville on Tuesday morning.
SOMERSET -- A bicyclist was seriously injured when he was struck by a pickup truck Tuesday morning in Manville, police said.
Guilmar Catalan, 33, of Somerset, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries in the crash, and remains hospitalized at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, Manville police Sgt. Craig Jermiah said.
At 6:41 a.m., police received a report of a bicyclist being struck at the intersection of South Main Street and Van Neste Place, police said. Upon arriving at the scene, Catalan was discovered laying in the road, police said.RELATED: Truck fled scene after fatally striking bicyclist in Elizabeth
According to police, the pickup truck, driver by Robert Zaccaro, 52, of Somerset, was traveling south on Main Street when Catalan was struck at the intersection of South Main Street and Van Neste Place, police said. The driver of the pickup truck remained on the scene, police said.
Police said Catalan, the bicyclist, was issued a summons in connection with the crash, but the driver of the pickup truck was not.The accident remains under investigation, police said.
