Frank Cabezas of Readington Township faces a number of charges in the accident, including two counts of second-degree death by auto.
UPDATE: Frank Cabezas' bail was revoked Monday during his first court appearance.
FLEMINGTON -- Frank Cabezas, charged in a double-fatal accident Friday when he allegedly struck a car head-on with a family returning from an Easter egg hunt, is making his first court appearance Monday afternoon.
Cabezas, 23, of Readington Township, is being held in Somerset County Jail on $250,000 bail. His hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. in the state Superior Court in Hunterdon.
He faces multiple charges following a crash Friday afternoon that killed two grandparents riding in a car with their family.
According to the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Officer, Cabezas was allegedly driving a Ford Explorer south on Route 523 at approximately 2:45 p.m. Friday when he hit an oncoming Toyota Camry occupied by five people -- two children, their father and the children's grandparents.
The grandparents have been identified as Frank Corso, 79, and his wife, Audrey Corso, 75, both of Flemington. Their son, Gregory Corso, 43, of Budd Lake, was taken by ambulance to Morristown Medical Center with minor injuries, according to the prosecutor's office. A hospital spokeswoman said he was not at the hospital on Monday.
Driver in crash faced prior charges
His son, Matthew Corso, 5, was seated in a rear booster seat and was taken to Morristown Medical Center and subsequently released.
His sister, Marissa Corso, 10, was flown by North Star to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick with a possible broken femur, the prosecutor's office confirmed. The hospital declined to release any information about her condition on Monday, citing her age.
Cabezas, who was not injured in the crash, has been charged with two counts of second-degree death by auto, three counts of fourth-degree assault by auto, reckless driving and driving under the influence.
