The accident happened directly across from the Finderene Rescue Squad on Route 28 in Bridgewater.
BRIDGEWATER -- The victim in a fatal early-morning, single-vehicle crash at 476 Union Avenue that closed Route 28 in both directions has been identified as Dawn Dalton, 53, of Dunellen, said Bridgewater police spokesman, Lt. Michael J. Maxwell, in a news release Wednesday.
At 4:05 a.m., police received a report of a crash on Union Ave. near the intersection of Hollender Street, the release stated. Dalton, operating a 2004 Toyota Camry, was traveling westbound on Union Ave. when she left the road and struck a utility pole, the release stated.
Dalton was pronounced dead after being transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset, the release stated.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, the release stated.
