Two Montgomery Township men have been arrested and charged in connection with the lockdown at Hillsborough High School on Friday, April 29, 2016.
HILLSBOROUGH - Two Montgomery Township men have been arrested and charged in connection with a lockdown at Hillsborough High School on Friday, township police confirmed Tuesday.
Nicholas Grande, 20, and Steven Jahn, 19, both of the Belle Mead section in Montgomery, were charged with trespassing and causing a public nuisance. They were released pending a court appearance, police said.
Hillsborough High School was placed on a lockdown shortly after 10 a.m. Friday and students and staff were dismissed at noon after a report of two men walking around the campus.
Principal Karen A. Bingert, in a letter released Friday afternoon, said two people entered the school as students arrived, but left "without obvious incident." After school officials were notified of the two being in the building, the school was placed on a modified lockdown and police were contacted.
Neither man was a former student and did not have any reason to be at the school, police said Friday. Both had also left the school before police arrived.
