Luis Carreon of Franklin Township faces charges including manufacturing heroin and possession of heroin with the intent to distribute.
FRANKLIN -- A township man has been arrested and charged with first-degree manufacturing heroin and first-degree possession of heroin with the intent to distribute following a narcotic investigation that resulted in the seizure of more than eight pounds of heroin.
Luis Carreon, 27, of the Somerset section of the township, who goes by the street name of "Squeeze," was also charged with third-degree possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and fourth-degree resisting arrest.
On May 4, members of the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force conducted an investigation into the alleged distribution of heroin by Carreon, according to an affidavit filled in Somerset County Superior Court.
Man had 107 pounds of marijuana
When authorities came to his Park Street residence to execute a search warrant, Carreon reportedly attempted to escape by jumping from the third-story roof of the dwelling. He was taken into custody on the ground while trying to elude police, according to the affidavit.
A search of his residence reportedly revealed a plastic bag containing approximately eight pounds of heroin, 1,064 folds of heroin, eight marijuana plants, packaging and processing materials, drug paraphernalia and $1,570 in cash, according to the affidavit.
Carreon is being held in the Somerset County Jail. No bail information was immediately available.
