Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, has owned casinos, golf courses, and more in the Garden State.
TRENTON -- Yes, Donald Trump was born and raised in New York City and his most famous property -- Trump Tower -- sits in Manhattan. But he's hardly a stranger to New Jersey.
The billionaire real estate mogul -- who is now the presumptive Republican presidential nominee -- has owned a number of properties in the Garden State over the last four decades.
In the 1980s, Trump bolstered his name by buying the New Jersey Generals of the short-lived United States Football League and opening the Trump Plaza casino in Atlantic City. A few more gambling halls in the city followed in the '90s.
A timeline of Donald Trump in N.J.
These days, most of the casinos he created have closed -- and his company's four bankruptcies related to Atlantic City have been campaign fodder for his rivals and critics. (Even President Obama made a joke about it recently.)
And though his name still adorns the Trump Taj Mahal, he no longer owns a stake in it.
Still, Trump owns three renowned private golf clubs here, in Bedminster, Colts Neck, and Pine Hill.
He even fought to build a private cemetery at the Bedminster course where he would be buried, though he may now rest eternally in Florida instead.
Plus, visit Jersey City, and you'll find Trump Plaza Residences, a 55-story skyscraper in the state's second-largest municipality. Trump doesn't own the building, though. He simply licenses his name -- a common practice for him.
