Student breaks high jump record at Rotary meet.
WATCHUNG -- Valley View School student Vincent Rizzi set a record in the high jump at the Rotary Club of Plainfield-North Plainfield's 89th annual Track and Field meet. Vincent cleared the high jump crossbar at 5' 4", four inches higher than the record set in 2002.
Vincent was not alone in breaking a record at the meet: Cadene Rose, a sixth-grader at Maxson Middle School, set a record in the long jump, jumping 15' 3.5" and breaking the previous record of 15' 2.5" set in 2004.
Nearly 200 students from North Plainfield Middle School, Queen City Academy in Plainfield, Plainfield Academy of Arts and Advanced Studies, Maxson Middle School in Plainfield, and Valley View School in Watchung competed at the meet, with some assistance from members of the North Plainfield High School Interact Club, a Rotary International Service Club, who lent a hand volunteering as judges, timers and field event assistants.
The Rotary Club meet took place June 1 at the Hub Stine Athletic Complex in Plainfield.
