Students win at the RoboCupJunior OnStage competition.
FRANKLIN -- A team of robot enthusiasts from Cedar Hill Prep spent the first part of their summer vacation testing their mettle at an international robotics competition and came home winners.
Arjun Agrawal, Aarav Gupta, Nitasha Gupta and Nivritti Mantha -- members of Cedar Hill Prep's Team "Master Dancers" -- traveled to Leipzig, Germany, where they competed in RoboCup 2016.
The team competed in the RoboCupJunior OnStage competition, which required them to build and program a robot, which could perform on stage.
At the competition, 3,500 participants from 45 countries and regions competed in 17 disciplines. The Master Dancers were paired with teams from Mexico and Taiwan.
The team, which they dubbed the "Olympic Bots," was given 24-hours to work together without assistance from their coaches or mentors to program their robots to perform a specific task.
The "Olympic Bots" competed against five other Super Teams in the Junior OnStage Primary Super Team competition and captured first place.
