"P.T. Barnum's Museum, Menagerie and Circus" was the most well-known circus of the day.
SOMERVILLE -- This circus scene photo was taken in Somerville in 1907.
While the identity of the circus pictured cannot be stated with certainty, it is almost certainly not "P.T. Barnum's Museum, Menagerie and Circus," the most well-known circus of the day.
In its section on circus routes from 1901 to 1910, circushistory.org shows that Barnum's circus visited Somerville in 1905 but did not return again during the decade.
