The Micheal Lepp Spray Park in Somerset County is a popular place to beat the heat.
SOMERVILLE - There's nothing like cold water pouring over your head to keep you cool on a hot summer day.
Sure, some people will head to the beach for relief, some head to the lake, but for many kids the spray park is the place to go.
The heat index climbed well into three digits as the temperatures reached 91 degrees and 77 percent humidity Monday and kids - as well as adults- repeatedly hit the spray button to turn on the water at the Michael Lepp Spray Park to get wet and try to beat the heat.
The park has water fountains, spray centers and buckets of water that, when filled, tip over on the people underneath.
Having a bucket of water poured over your head was very popular at the park, but just sitting under a sprinkler was a close second.
