A vehicle fire on the eastbound side of Interstate 78 east of exit 29 has closed two lanes on Aug. 29, 2016.
Update: As of 3 p.m., the fire has been extinguished and the scene cleared.
BERNARDS - A vehicle fire on the eastbound side of Interstate 78 east of exit 29 has closed two lanes on Monday afternoon, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The fire was reported just after 2 p.m. The right and center lanes are closed with delays of up to 10 minutes in the area. The fire is about 1 mile east of exit 29 (Interstate 287 and Routes 202-206).
On Sunday, firefighters extinguished a blaze on Interstate 287 in the township involving a partially-filled car carrier.
There were two other accidents on Sunday on Interstate 78 in Hunterdon County, one a fatal accident in the afternoon and the other a serious accident in the morning.
Sunday's fatal accident was the seventh this year on a 30-mile stretch of the expressway from the Pennsylvania border to the Interstate 287 interchange in Somerset County.
