The Hillsborough Education Association is planning a rally at the township municipal building on Aug. 31, 2016, in advance of mediation talks.
HILLSBOROUGH - The Hillsborough Education Association is planning a rally at the township municipal building Wednesday in advance of mediation talks, according to its Facebook page.
The Blue Shirt Mediation Rally is being held 5-7 p.m. outside of the Board of Education offices located inside the building.
The rally is being held during the second mediation session between the association and the board, Patch.com has reported. The first session took place on July 14.
The membership's contract with the district expires on Sept. 1, according to Patch.com. The association has 1,069 members including staff from teachers to office personnel to student transportation drivers and lunch aides, it was stated on the group's Facebook page.
"The main sticking points are a competitive salary and a reasonable contribution towards health benefits," the association wrote on its Facebook page. "The association is not seeking to eliminate contributions towards their health benefits, but they are fighting for a fairer and more reasonable amount to contribute, much like the 31 other locals throughout the state that have already bargained this."
