The restaurant is brand new from floor-to-ceiling, said the owner.

UPDATE: It was previously reported that fire-destroyed 25 Burgers in Bound Brook would reopen on Saturday but the opening has been rescheduled for next week.

BOUND BROOK -- Finally, the date is nearing for Anil Patel to reopen the jewel of his 25 Burger restaurant franchise.

For months, Patel, co-owner of the newly rebuilt 25 Burgers restaurant at 522 Union Ave., which was destroyed in a fire on June 9, 2015, has been unable to answer eager customers' questions about when the restaurant will reopen.

That date was Saturday but he has had to reschedule the opening because a final inspection scheduled for Friday has been postponed until next week.

"I haven't been able to sleep in the last couple of months trying to get everything together," said Patel, of Edison, adding that the restaurant will have a Grand Opening on Tuesday. "We're excited. We didn't think it would take this long. We were initially told it would take six months.

"This was a very popular restaurant. It's the first one we opened. Our flagship location. It was hard seeing it go up in flames. It was a hardship not only for me but for our employees."

Patel said about half of the 15 full- and part-time employees will return.

The three-alarm blaze was an electrical fire that started in an electrical panel located on the second-floor, officials said. The fire raced into the attic and ultimately engulfed the entire building, officials said.

Approximately 100 firefighters responded to the scene, battling the blaze for roughly an hour.

Patel said the restaurant had just reopened a month earlier following a small electrical fire in the same second-floor area. The building, a former Dairy Queen, was first built in the 1920s and the age of the building likely played a factor, he said.

The restaurant, which originally opened 2009, specializes in made-to-order burgers, fries and shakes. It's menu includes classic cheeseburger, Trenton burger - featuring grilled pork roll on a burger - and a Philly Burger with Philly steak on top of the burger.

"Everything is brand new, from top-to-bottom, inside and outside," said Patel. "All the equipment is new. It has been totally modernized."

Patel also owns 25 Burgers restaurants in Flemington, Branchburg and Linden.
