RARITAN -- Ramon Cadiz, who authorities charged in connection with the deaths of his girlfriend and her teenage daughter last December, was indicted by a Somerset County Grand Jury on two counts of first-degree murder Thursday in Somerset County Superior Court.

Cadiz, 51, was also indicted on two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, one count of second-degree sexual assault and two counts of third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, according to the indictment.

On Dec. 11, 2015, at approximately 3:15 p.m., police responded to the First Avenue home where Sandra Guiseppe, 51, lived with her daughter, Kimberly Streath, 15, and Cadiz for a welfare check, authorities said. There, police found one of the victims in a second-floor bedroom and the other on the first floor of the residence, authorities said.

Cadiz, also known as "Ray," was immediately identified as a suspect and a statewide manhunt ensued. Just before midnight, North Brunswick Police Sgt. Michael Sauvigne located Cadiz's vehicle parked in a dimly lit, secluded area on Petunia Drive in the Colony Oaks Apartment Complex, authorities said. He was arrested at approximately 4 a.m. on Dec. 12, authorities said.

It was stated in an affidavit that Cadiz had allegedly accused the mom and daughter of stealing money from him, leaving him behind on the rent. Friends said previously Giuseppe and Kimberly were planning a move to Florida in the weeks leading up to their deaths.

Cadiz had previously been convicted of aggravated manslaughter in 1991 in Cumberland County in the killing of a man during a bar fight and has a long criminal history.

On July 7, 1992, Cadiz was sentenced to 25 years on an aggravated manslaughter charge. He was released after serving eight years because his conviction happened before a new state law requiring a person convicted of a violent crime to serve 85 percent of their sentence wasn't in place.

Since his release from prison in October 2000, Cadiz had been in and out of jail on a variety of charges, including assault, robbery, forgery, sexual assault and kidnapping, according to court records.

Cadiz is being held in Somerset County Jail on a $2 million bail.
