68-year-old man listed in critical condition
FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP -- A 68-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition after he suffered a medical emergency, causing him to lose control of his SUV and crash into a parked pickup truck Saturday, police said.
Officers responded to the two-vehicle wreck shortly before noon on Hamilton Street, where they found a 2001 Ford Expedition that left the roadway and hit a 1996 Dodge Ram, according to township police spokesman Sgt. Philip Rizzo.
Police found the Ford driver unconscious and unresponsive, Rizzo said in a statement. Sgt. Teddy Cerra and Officer Kenneth Reid pulled the Franklin Park resident from his SUV and began CPR.
The man regained a pulse before emergency crews rushed him to an area hospital, police added. The Ford was apparently heading westbound when the crash occurred.
Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact Cpl. Michael Deutchman of the Franklin Township Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau at 732-873-5533, extension 3110.
