Honorees have spent decades protecting wildlife in the state.

HILLSBOROUGH -- Former Gov. James J. Florio will be the keynote speaker at the Conserve Wildlife Foundation's 11th annual Women & Wildlife Awards on Wednesday at the Coach Barn on Duke Farms.

The event, which recognizes outstanding women for their achievements and advances in protecting New Jersey's endangered and threatened wildlife species, will honor Martha Maxwell-Doyle, Tanya Sulikowski and Wendy Walsh. It'll begin at 6 p.m.

The trio will be presented with awards in Inspiration, Leadership and Education for their work to protect wildlife in the state.

Maxwell-Doyle, who has overseen resource management, hazardous materials and environmental protection in the state for the past three decades, currently works at the Barnegat Bay Partnership as a project coordinator for estuary protection and restoration.

Sulikowski, who once managed a 700-acre nature preserve and assisted in land acquisition at Schiff Nature Preserve in Mendham, is currently manager of programs at Duke Farms, overseeing hundreds of environmental education programs.

Walsh, who has been working for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service since 2000, is a senior Fish and Wildlife Biologist at the agency.

The event will include an awards presentation to the recipients, hors d'oeuvres, cash bar and a silent auction. For additional information go to www.ConserveWildlifeNJ.org.
