Investigators say David M. Adams met the victim in an online gaming community.
NEWARK -- A former Somerset County teacher was sentenced Monday to more than 10 years in federal prison for soliciting an underage boy for online sexual activity.
Prosecutors say that between May and September 2014, David M. Adams convinced a boy under the age of 18 to engage in sexually explicit conduct over Skype in exchange for payment via PayPal and other means.
U.S. District Judge William H. Walls sentenced Adams, who previously pleaded guilty in August to a charge of online enticement of a minor to engage in sexual conduct, to a total of 127 months in prison and a lifetime of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
During the time of the crimes, prosecutors say, Adams, 30, worked as a music teacher at Eisenhower Middle School in Roxbury and then Bridgewater-Raritan High School.
