This year marks the 25th anniversary of the event.

Morristown -- It a "Gingerbread Wonderland," at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum located in Morris County, and a record number of visitors are expected to attend.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the event. Themes among the 187 entrees range from haunted houses to quaint intricate cottages. There is a wishing well called "Christmas Wishes," featuring small figures of dogs and cats representing shelter animals wishing for a forever home.

Entering the event for the second year was Morristown resident Christine Hasenbein, who, with help from family members, spent 30 hours molding gingerbread, icing and candy items into what she calls, "The Ugly Christmas Sweater Company." Hasenbein visited the event with three of her ESL students, which she turned into a teachable moment.

"I did not win the competition last year," Hasenbain said with a smile, "and I may not win this year, but I keep thinking outside the box and entering until I do."

The Gingerbread Wonderland runs through Sunday, Dec. 11. For more information, visit www.morrisparks.net or http://www.arboretumfriends.org/
