READINGTON TWP. - Police are cautioning those who use County Line Road (Route 637) to expect delays as tree trimming work begins on Wednesday.
The work will continue on County Line Road between Readington Road (Route 620) and Harlen School Road for about two weeks.
During this period, the road will be down to one lane in the area of the tree work.
The tree work is taking place near a project to reconstruct 1-mile of Readington Road from the township in Hunterdon County to Branchburg in Somerset County. That project is a joint effort between Hunterdon and Somerset counties.
The work included reconstruction of Readington Road from Dreahook Road to Harlan School Road. The work is being done because of a number of accidents that have taken place along this stretch of road.
Work will include installing curbs, widening the road to 36 feet, and widening it to 41 feet with a left-turn lane at the Baird Road intersection, where a new traffic signal will be installed. One bridge, just north of the Baird Road intersection, will also be replaced.
On Monday, construction workers involved in the Readington Road project struck a gas pipe, resulting in road closures between Dreahook Road and Baird Road.
