The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office and Policemen Benevolent Association's Local 307 hosted the sixth annual event.
SOMERVILLE - Santa was traveling via a Somerset County SWAT truck Monday evening when he visited the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset Steeplechase Cancer Center.
The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office and Policemen Benevolent Association's Local 307 held its sixth annual Christmas celebration for patients and their families in the lobby of the cancer center.
Michael H. Robertson, acting Somerset County prosecutor; Tony Cava, chief administrator for Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset; and Dr. Kathleen Toomey, the medical director for the Steeplechase Cancer Center, each spoke briefly to the nearly 50 children and their families who attended the event.
Adult patients and their families had dinner and Santa distributed toys to the children and grandchildren of the patients, who had provided a wish list to Santa for their loved ones.
The Basilone Memorial Foundation also distributed stuffed animals to each of the children at the event.
After sitting on Santa's lap and getting presents, the children were able to go aboard the SWAT truck.
