BERNARDS TOWNSHIP -- Several members of Somerset County's 4-H youth program recently worked with Somerset County First Responders in a Large Animal Training Class at Lord Stirling Stables.
The program gave the first responders tips and experience in handling larger animals which may be involved in an incident. Animals used in the training included horses, goats, sheep and cows.
"Emergency services are lucky if one percent of their first responders have experience handling livestock," said Marge Margentino, director of Lord Stirling Stables. "This training will keep first responders from getting hurt and becoming victims at a scene where they are supposed to be helping others."
