A 72-year old township man has been indicted for allegedly sexually assaulting an 8-year-old child who was in his care.
BRIDGEWATER -- A 72-year old township man has been indicted for allegedly sexually assaulting a child known to him.
James Madison III has been charged with second-degree sexual assault and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. He's being held in Somerset County Jail in lieu of a $150,000 cash-only bail.

On Oct. 15, the child was interviewed by detectives of the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit, according to an affidavit filed by Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Detective Randy Sidorski.
Sidorski said in the affidavit the man sexually assaulted the child on numerous occasions between May 1, 2014 and Sept. 30, 2015.
