Because of the winter storm warning issued for most of New Jersey, school districts and municipal and county governments throughout Somerset County have begun announcing closings and delayed openings for Tuesday, March 14, 2017.
The governor declared a state of emergency on Monday, meaning schools, government offices and many business will be closed on Tuesday.
The following closings and delays have been announced:
School closings:
- All public schools in Somerset County will be closed on Tuesday.
- Raritan Valley Community College - all classes and events are cancelled
- Green Brook Academy (Bound Brook)
- Lord Stirling School (Basking Ridge)
- St. James School (Basking Ridge)
- All Somerset County government offices and programs are closed Tuesday. The Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders' work session and regular meeting on Tuesday will be held on March 21.
- All municipal government offices will be closed on Tuesday.
- The following senior centers operated by the Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services will be closed on Tuesday: Hillsborough, Montgomery, Quail Brook, Warrenbrook and the Senior Wellness Centers in Bernards and Bridgewater.
- There will be no Meals on Wheels deliveries on Tuesday. Clients are asked to use the non-perishable meals sent out earlier in the season. If clients do not have frozen meals, or if they have lost power, they can use Heater Meals, shelf-stable meals that come in an orange box. Directions for heating are on the box. Heater Meals are notintended for use in a microwave oven.
- The Office on Aging and Disability Services, located at 27 Warren St., Somerville, will be closed on Tuesday to walk-ins for the safety of patrons. Clients and caregivers needing information or assistance may call 908-704-6346 or toll free 1-888-747-1122. The Office of Veterans Services, also located at 27 Warren St., will be closed to walk-ins as well. For information related to veterans' services, call Peter Niemiec at 908-704-6357.
- The Intoxicated Driver Resource Center class that was scheduled from 4-10 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday has been cancelled. Call 908-704-6304 for more information.
- All Somerset County Transportation services will be cancelled on Tuesday. For more information, contact the county Transportation Division at (908) 231-7116 or 1-800-246-0527, or via email.
- Recycling pickup in Hillsborough has been postponed to Wednesday. In Millstone, recycling pickup will take place on Thursday.

Richard Hall Community Mental Health Center - anyone who has an appointment for Tuesday is asked to call 908-725-2800 on Tuesday to verify the appointment before attempting to travel. For psychiatric emergencies, call PESS at 908-526-4100.

- Adult Day Center of Somerset County (Bridgewater)
- Bridgewater-Raritan Regional Board of Education's Tuesday board meeting originally has been rescheduled to 7 p.m. March 16.
- Green Brook Municipal Court
- The Meghan Rose Bradley Foundation annual charity basketball game scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at Branchburg Central Middle School has been cancelled. No make-up date has been announced.

North Plainfield Board of Education's meeting for Wednesday has been moved to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Schools and government offices that do not appear on this list are not necessarily open; this could mean that the school has not made school closing or delayed opening information available or has not responded to query calls.
