While the alleged intruder was hospitalized, the officer wasn't hurt
MANVILLE -- An off-duty police officer shot a man who entered his home in Manville early Monday, according to reports.
The attempted burglary occurred on the 200 block of North 5th Street in the borough, according to News 12 New Jersey. The intruder was shot in the chest before being taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, the report said.
The officer wasn't injured, the report said.
At approximately 8:30 a.m., investigators were seen leaving the home with bags of evidence.
The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office is handling the investigation, according to WABC-7.
