PARSIPPANY -- A Somerset County woman is facing charges after police say she was intoxicated when she crashed her sports utility vehicle into a Marmora Road house Sunday night.

Carla Marcella Martinez, 25, of Bound Brook, was traveling east at a high rate of speed on Marmora Road in a 2003 Ford Explorer at about 11 p.m. when she tried to make a right turn but ran off the road, Parsippany police said in a news release.

Martinez's vehicle struck a street sign, sideswiped a tree and drove through the grass of a Marmora Road house before hitting the home, police said.

Both the house and the Explorer sustained significant damage, but no one inside the home was injured.

Martinez was taken to Morristown Medical Center for complaints of pain.

Martinez was charged with DWI, driving an unregistered vehicle, possession of an open container of alcohol in the vehicle, failure to maintain lane, unlicensed driver, reckless driving, failure to wear a seat belt and destruction of agricultural property, police said.

She was released pending her court appearance.

The Marmora Road home, which was stabilized by Parsippany Rescue and Recovery, was deemed safe for re-entry by a township construction official.
