Defendant had fled to Pennsylvania and was arrested as he tried to escape through a widow in a motel room, police said.
SOUTH BOUND BROOK - A South Bound Brook man who fled from authorities and was arrested in a small Pennsylvania town has been indicted for sexually-assaulting a minor.
Hector C. Suarez, 32, was indicted on two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault of a girl under the age of 14 on Thursday in Somerset County Superior Count.
On Jan. 28, borough police received a report of a minor having been sexually assault by Suarez, it was previously reported. Suarez, however, fled before he could be arrested after being alerted to the allegation, police said.
After an unsuccessful effort to locate Suarez in Pennsylvania, he was placed into the National Crime Information Center database as a wanted person on Jan. 30, and Pennsylvania authorities were notified.
On Feb. 17, Pennsylvania State Trooper Corporal Christopher Bonin of the Swiftwater barracks in Monroe County spotted Suarez's vehicle parked at 9:26 p.m. at a motel in Smithfield, Pa., a small town south of Pittsburgh, police said.
Suarez was apprehended as he tried to escape out of a rear window of a motel room, it was stated by police.
Suarez has been extradited back to New Jersey and is being held in the Somerset County Jail.
