Terrance Barker, 33, was also found guilty on two counts of possessing firearms following the three-day trial before state Superior Court Judge Robert A. Ballard.

Barker is facing up to 20 years in prison, with 10 years served without parole because he is extended term eligible.

The judge set May 26 as the sentencing date.

Assistant prosecutor William Guhl handled the case for the state. Attorney Marsha Munoz represented Barker.

On Oct. 22, 2014, Barker was arrested at his home when members of the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant, it was previously reported.

The search resulted in the seizure of a defaced High-Point model JCP .40 caliber handgun, a Smith and Wesson revolver and 94 .25 caliber bullets, police said.

During the trial, Munoz argued that two other people lived in the residence and the guns could have belonged to them. She added that Barker only stayed there three or four nights a week and the lease and utility bills were not in his name.

Guhl countered that the weapons were found in a hidden compartment in a dresser drawer in Barker's bedroom and he previously admitted to police that he owned them. Eight hundred dollars, Barker's passport and citizenship card were also found in the compartment.

"Do the math," said Guhl. "This is where he privately stored his personal items, his money. The issue is what makes sense."
