Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity will be holding its first Rainbow Run on April 30, 2017, at White Oak Park.
BRANCHBURG -- Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity will be holding its first Rainbow Run on Sunday at White Oak Park.
Habitat Youth, a group of students from local high schools in Somerset and Hunterdon counties, are behind the run, according to a news release.
The Rainbow Run includes a 5K during which all participants will run through non-toxic, colored powder at stations throughout the course. Registrations for the run can be done online.
There is a $25 per person donation to take part. Children ages 4-12 are $5 and children under 3 can participate at no charge. White event T-shirts can also be purchased the Habitat's website.
"This year we are seven schools strong and we want to make as much of a difference as possible," said Bryan Zhu of Bridgewater-Raritan High School. "We want to help local families and change lives and communities. We are grateful to be a part of that."
Registration the day of the event will begin at 8 a.m. with the Rainbow Run 5K beginning at 9:15.
Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity has built 50 homes over the past 25 years and is in the process of building three new homes in the Somerset section of Franklin Township in Somerset County. For more information, go to www.rvhabitat.org or call 908-704-0016.
