America's Grow-a-Row will hold its fifth annual Farm to Fork fundraiser on May 6, 2017, at Life Camp in Pottersville.
America's Grow-a-Row will hold its fifth annual Farm to Fork fundraiser on May 6 at Life Camp in the Pottersville section of Bedminster Township in Somerset County.
Proceeds from the event, being held from 5-10 p.m., will benefit America's Grow-a-Row, a non-profit organization marking its 15 year of growing fruits and vegetables donated to those suffering from hunger and those living in "food deserts," or areas that lack access to fresh, affordable produce, throughout the state of New Jersey, according to a news release.
Farm to Fork features local food artisans, a wine and craft beer tasting, a farm fresh dinner and fine auctions.
America's Grow-a-Row will also be honoring Impact 100 Garden State for their support of nonprofit organizations in New Jersey. In 2014, Impact 100 Garden State played a pivotal role in America's Grow-a-Row's impact and expansion in the Morris County area by supporting the Morris County Free Farm Market program.
Founded five years ago, Impact 100 Garden State is a unique organization of women dedicated to improving the lives of New Jersey residents by collectively funding high-impact grants of at least $100,000 to nonprofit organizations that serve Morris, Passaic, Somerset and Sussex counties.
Farm to Fork raises over $115K for America's Grow-a-Row
Each member contributes $1,000 to membership and the entire amount funds programs that will transform lives in local communities.
Proceeds from Farm to Fork will help America's Grow-a-Row reach their 2017 goals of donating over 1.2 million pounds of farm-fresh food to various hunger relief agencies in New Jersey while at the same time educating people of all ages about hunger, the importance of agriculture and healthy eating, according to the news release.
America's Grow-a-Row, supported by over 7,000 volunteers who harvest produce throughout the growing season, hosts 750 young people from low-income urban areas at their farm through Grow-a-Row Kids Farm Days, provides Free Farm Markets in Camden, Newark, Jersey City, East Orange, and Morristown and hosts Recipient Volunteering events for the recipients of the produce so that they can harvest fresh food for other communities in need.
This opportunity to participate in a volunteer capacity enables those served to give back to the program in a fulfilling and meaningful way.
America's Grow-a-Row's President and Founder, Chip Paillex, has been honored with the recognition of CNN Hero and Ford Motor Company Go Further Everyday Hero.
