President Donald Trump is expected to spend the weekend at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, according to a Federal Aviation Administration notice.
The alert posted Monday morning stated there will be a 30-mile temporary flight restriction in the Morristown and Bedminster airspace from Friday to Sunday. There will be a 10-mile radius where no aircraft can fly, affecting airports in Somerset and Hunterdon counties, including Somerset Airport in Bedminster and Solberg Airport in Readington Township.
This will be Trump's first visit to Trump National since he traveled there in November as president-elect. He and his transition team spent the weekend there working to fill key roles in his administration.
Trump is scheduled to be in New York City on Thursday, where he will meet with the Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull at the USS Intrepid museum as part of a commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea, the White House announced last week.
An FAA advisory indicated Trump will spend Thursday night in New York City before traveling to Bedminster, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Trump has spent seven weekends at Mar-a-Lago Club, his resort in Palm Beach, in his first 100 days in office. The private club closes from June to August, when heat and humidity is at its highest in Florida.
Before becoming president, Trump often spent winter weekends at Mar-a-Lago and summer weekends at Trump National, it was previously reported.
Bedminster recently asked the federal government to be reimbursed for the cost of guarding the golf course. While the U.S. Secret Service protects buildings the president visits, local police are usually asked to secure roads surrounding those locations.
The township has estimated it could cost as much as $302,000 to cover seven Trump family visits to the golf club each year, in part because the township's department is small, requiring overtime to handle 24-hour security.
Trump National, a 535-acre club that features two, 18-hole courses designed by golf architect Tom Fazio, opened in 2004.
It was previously the estate of the late car builder John DeLorean. Trump bought the property, located in Somerset County, for about $35 million in 2002 after it had been sold at a bankruptcy auction in 2000.
The club, which is playing host to the U.S. Women's Open in mid-July, has stables converted to houses where members can spend the night, and a helipad.
It was previously reported that Trump, during his visits to the club, could fly into either Newark Liberty International Airport or Morristown Airport, then arrive in Bedminster by Marine One helicopter.
