Police investigating third shooting in 2 weeks in Franklin

All of the shootings have occurred in the Somerset section of the township.

FRANKLIN -- Authorities are investigation a shooting Monday night, the third shooting in the Somerset section of the township over the past two weeks, said Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson in a news release Tuesday.

At approximately 8:56 p.m., a 911 call was received by township police reporting gunshots in the area of Mark and Parkside streets, the release said.

Upon arrival, officers found a 21-year-old man in the area of Millstone Road and Route 27 suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his right arm, according to the release.

The victim was treated at the scene and then taken to a local trauma center for emergency treatment, police said.

Robertson said the victim is not cooperating with law enforcement authorities.

Detectives are also currently investigating two other recent shootings in the township.

On April 28, at 11:48 p.m., police were called to the scene of the shooting of an 18-year-old girl in the area of Baier Avenue in the Somerset section of the township. Authorities said the girl, who suffered non-life threatening injuries to her lower extremities, was not the intended target.

On April 19, at 3:35 p.m., police responded to a report of gunshots fired in the area of Fuller Street in the Somerset Section of the township. Officers discovered a 29-year-old New Brunswick man who had also been shot in his lower extremity, police said.

The incidents are not related, according to police.
