CLINTON TWP. - Gina Villani, the district's superintendent of schools, will be moving to the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District in July.
The Bridgewater-Raritan Board of Education voted Tuesday night to appoint her assistant superintendent, the Somerset County-based school district confirmed on Wednesday. She will be paid $162,500 annually.
Villani, who could not be reached for comment, was named superintendent in Clinton Township a year ago, replacing Drucilla Clark, who retired after four years in the position. Villa was hired at annual salary of $145,000. Her contract was to run through June 30, 2020.
Prior to coming to Clinton Township, she had been Nutley Public School district's assistant superintendent. Villani spent the past 18 years as an educator, having served as an elementary school principal, curriculum supervisor and teacher. She worked in facilities management prior to her work in education.
Villani came to the district at a time when it had just completed the negotiation of a new contract with its staff and was looking at a school consolidation plan.
She earned a bachelor of arts degree in Biology from Drew University, a Master's of Science degree in Elementary Education from Long Island University, C.W. Post, a Master's of Arts degree in Educational Administration from Kean University and a Doctoral degree in Education Administration from Seton Hall University.
