Traffic is backed up for 4 miles as of 7 a.m.
BERNARDS -- A dump truck overturned on Interstate 287 in northern Somerset County, spilling gravel on the highway and leading to a multi-mile backup that could last for hours, State Police said.
The dump truck flipped over in the northbound lanes near milepost 29 and has led to delays that stretch back to Route 202, transportation officials said.
The right and center lanes will remain shut for several hours while crews clear the gravel from the road, Sgt. Jeff Flynn said.
Sigalert.com is reporting traffic is stopped and that delays through the area are an hour as of 7:30 a.m.
The truck driver was not seriously hurt, State Police said.
