MANVILLE - The family of Asia Dixon, who died in a tragic accident on the Fourth of July, has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral costs.
Over $4,000 had been raised as of Friday morning.
A funeral is planned for 5 p.m. on Monday at Plinton Curry Funeral, 428 Elizabeth Ave., in the Somerset section of Franklin Township. Those attending are asked to wear white or tan.
A candlelight vigil was held by friends and family on Wednesday evening near the train tracks where she was struck and killed, according to a report on mycentraljersey.com.
Crisis counselors were also available on Thursday at Manville High School. Dixon had graduated just a few weeks before her death.
"For those who knew my sister they know an angel has been gained up above," John Abner wrote on the GoFundMe page, set up on behalf of Asia's mother, Sheila Dixon. "In this troubling time, I know many words are lost and our pain grows deeper with each second past.
"However, Asia was a happy and joyful soul and should be remembered as such, despite the pain and devastation."
Abner said the family is "very grateful for all the love and support" they have received.
"If you know my sister, have met her, or are just a concerned Manville citizen and would like to donate please don't hesitate," he wrote. "Your donations are greatly appreciated and a sure way to contribute your support in these tough times.
"Huge thanks and blessing to whoever shows they're love and support during these times."
Samantha Arroyo was among those at the vigil who said Asia Dixon always wanted to help others, according to mycentraljersey.com.
"Everyone knew Asia because of her big personality and even bigger heart," Arroyo told mycentraljersey.com. "Even if she didn't know you, if Asia saw you upset she'd sit down with you and ask you what's wrong and try to do her best to make you feel better."
