A 22-yeaer-old Hillsborough Township man has been charged with sexual assault and manufacturing child pornography for an encounter that allegedly occurred over an online video chat, according to a news release issued by the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.
HILLSBOROUGH -- A 22-year-old Hillsborough Township man has been charged with sexual assault and manufacturing child pornography for an encounter that allegedly occurred over an online video chat, according to a news release issued by the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.
According to the release:
An investigation regarding Tyler Diaz began in July 2015 by the Police Department of Clawson City, Michigan, and in late November, the case was referred to Somerset County law enforcement.
Through their investigation, detectives assigned to the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Hillsborough Township Police Department found that Diaz had allegedly engaged in an sexually explicit video chat conversations via Skype with a 15-year-old victim living in Michigan.
At 6 a.m. Tuesday, detectives executed a search warrant on defendant Diaz's residence and seized a computer, cellphone and other electronic devices. At 11 a.m. Diaz was arrested.
Diaz was charged with manufacturing child pornography, sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child and possession of child pornography.
Diaz was arrested and lodged in the Somerset County Jail with bail set at $150,000. Bail is cash only with the condition that, should he make bail, he is not to have contact with the victim or minors under the age of 16.
