The cause of the fatal fire remains under investigation but it isn't believed to be suspicious, authorities said.
BRIDGEWATER -- The victim in a fatal house fire Sunday morning on Bridgewater Avenue, has been identified as 89-year-old Clyde R. Johnson, Somerset County Prosecutor's Office stated Tuesday.
At 6:39 a.m., police and firefighters responded to the home at 601 Bridgewater Ave. on a report of heavy smoke, authorities said.
Once inside, firefighters discovered the body of Johnson, who lived in the home, authorities said.
The blaze, which destroyed a large portion of the first and second floors, does not appear suspicious, but remains under investigation, authorities said.
