Bound Brook police and the prosecutor's office carried out the search at the West Main Street home of Jason L. Smith, 18, as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation. Inside the home authorities allegedly found 191 folds of heroin, 16 grams of crack cocaine, 37 grams of marijuana, 16 Oxycodone pills, a scale, packaging materials and more than $500 cash.  A Steyr .25 caliber pistol was found in the trunk of a Nissan Sentra registered to Smith's mother but driven mostly by Smith, authorities said, adding that Smith's mother consented to a search of the car.

Smith was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm. He and three other suspects -- Nicholas Whipert, 23, of Bound Brook; Sakuan Peace, 21, of South Bound Brook; and 22-year-old Christian Zuniga of New Brunswick -- were each also charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of crack cocaine and possession of Oxycodone.

The four were being held in the Somerset County Jail.
