An overturned tractor-trailer was carrying Isopar M, a solvent derived from petroleum.

RARITAN -- The cleanup continues at the Somerville Circle after a tractor-trailer overturned Tuesday morning.

The tanker was carrying Isopar M, a solvent derived from petroleum, said Lawrence Hajna, a spokesman for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

As of 1:30 p.m., Route 206 was reopened in both directions, township police said.

Isopar M, a high-purity synthetic isoparaffin, is non-hazardous and is not regulated, said an official from Langer Transport of Jersey City, which owns the overturned tanker.

Hajna said the petroleum product was "dipping" from the tanker and the spill was not extensive. A second tanker is on the scene so that the remaining petroleum product can be transferred to it. Fifteen gallons of diesel fuel was also spilled, said Hajna.

A nearby hotel was evacuated as a precaution and Langer Transport has taken responsibility for the cleanup, Hajna said.
