A Green Brook police officer happened upon the fire Thursday night.
GREEN BROOK -- A fire at Liccardi Chrysler Dodge RAM Thursday night destroyed six vehicles and damaged two others, authorities said.
A Green Brook police officer on patrol spotted the fire at 10 p.m. at the dealership on Route 22 west and called for firefighters, who extinguished the blaze, said Capt. Jack Bennett, spokesman for the Somerset County Prosecutor's office.
Eight vehicles were damaged and six were deemed a total loss, Bennett said. The cause of the fire is not considered suspicious, but it remains under investigation, Bennett said.
The family-owned dealership sells new and used vehicles. Authorities didn't provide information on exactly which vehicles were damaged or destroyed.
