NORTH PLAINFIELD -- A Plainfield man wanted in a shooting and carjacking in the parking lot of a Quick Chek last month was arrested Friday in North Carolina, authorities said.

Sedean A. McCoy, 30, was arrested without incident at a residence in Henderson, North Carolina by the U.S. Marshal's Violent Fugitive Task Force.

McCoy had been the subject of a manhunt after he shot a man June 24 in the parking lot of a North Plainfield Quick Chek and took his car, authorities said.

The 44-year-old man, who was shot in the thigh, told police he was attacked by an armed man while getting into his car and a struggle ensued that led to the shot being fired.

The man was treated and released for the gunshot wound.

A surveillance video inside the Quick Chek showed McCoy moments before the shooting, authorities said.

McCoy was seen by police six days later driving in Plainfield and when they tried to stop him, a high-speed chase ensued, authorities said.

McCoy led police through several towns in Union and Middlesex counties before escaping, authorities said. It was not disclosed how authorities tracked him to North Carolina.

New Jersey authorities will seek his extradition to face charges of first-degree carjacking, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree possession of a handgun without a permit to carry and third-degree aggravated assault.
