HILLSBOROUGH - Amwell Road was closed near Pioneer Drive for about an hour on Friday after a serious motor-vehicle accident.
The accident was reported at 8:17 a.m., township police announced in a news release. Police are asking for any witnesses to contact the department at 908-369-4323, ext. 8.
A Mazda sedan being driven by Sharon A. Kuhns, 53, of Flemington, appeared to have drifted over the double yellow lines and struck a Toyota being driven by township resident Ganesh Natarajan, 34, according to police. Kuhns was heading east on Amwell Road while Natarajan was traveling west.
Kuhns' vehicle struck a curb and utility pole on the westbound shoulder. Natarajan's vehicle hit a second utility pole on the westbound shoulder, as well as a street sign, police said.
Kuhns was unconscious and transported by ambulance to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick. The hospital did not have information on her condition as of Monday. Natarajan was not injured in the accident, police said.
A portion of Amwell Road was closed for approximately one hour while the crash was being investigated. Anyone with information regarding the crash is being asked to contact the Hillsborough Township Police Department at 908-369-4323, ext. 8.
Those responding to the accident included township police, Hillsborough Toownship Rescue Squad, Hillsborough Township fire companies and paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center - Somerset in Somerville.
