FRANKLIN -- A 13-year-old township boy suffered "possible life-threatening injuries" after being hit by a vehicle Monday, police spokesman Sgt. Philip Rizzo said.

The boy was riding his bicycle near Amwell Road and Elizabeth Avenue around 5:30 p.m. when he was struck by a driver traveling west on Amwell, Rizzo said. Rizzo did not know the make or model of the vehicle.

The driver stayed at the scene, Rizzo also said.

Police closed Amwell for about three hours for the crash investigation, which was still underway later Monday night. The investigation is being handled by the department's traffic safety bureau.

Anyone with information is being asked to call Ptl. Jose Jaime at 732-873-5533, ext. 3143.
