N.J. woman reportedly has lost it all to fund missing person searches

Nancy Schaefer of Bridgewater says she has spent $300,000 over the past 11 years to keep her organization, Missing in America, going.

BRIDGEWATER - A township resident who says she has spent $300,000 over the past 11 years to keep her organization, Missing in America, going told New Jersey 101.5 that she has lost her home and had to sell most of her belongings.

Nancy Schaefer, 45, said that despite her eviction Monday from her apartment, she will continue to keep the organization going.

"I've lost everything. I've lost my apartment, my belongings, everything that I own," Schaefer told New Jersey 101.5.

A GoFundMe page has been established to help Schaefer, who plans to file to have Missing in America become a 501c3 non-profit charity, according to New Jersey 101.5. As of Tuesday, $2,195 of the $5,000 goal has been raised.

In the meantime, she will be staying in Kentucky with a Creis Renee Kidd. Schaefer helped locate Kidd's 19-year-old missing daughter, according to New Jersey 101.5.

Schaefer was involved in the search for missing College of New Jersey student Paige Aiello, a Hillsborough resident whose body was recovered in the Hudson River in 2013, according to Patch.com.

Patch.com also reported she was helping to locate a teen who was found in New York City after going missing from The Mills at Jersey Gardens mall in Elizabeth.
