Elizabeth Levaca, 49, of Branchburg, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after police responded to reports of an intoxicated driver on Oct. 10, 2016.
CLINTON TWP. - A 49-year-old Branchburg woman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after police responded to reports of a drunk driver on Monday, police said.
Township police were alerted at 2:45 p.m. that a possibly intoxicated driver was heading southbound on Route 31 out of Lebanon Township. The person who witnessed the driver said they also saw an open container of alcohol in the vehicle, police said.
An officer reportedly saw the 2015 Honda Accord traveling south on Route 31, stopping it near Halstead Street after seeing the driver failing to stay in her lane.
Elizabeth Levaca allegedly attempted to hide a glass bottle containing vodka behind the passenger's seat, police said. The officer said they could smell alcohol on her breath and that she appeared intoxicated.
Levaca was arrested and transported to police headquarters where she provided samples of her breath before being charged, police said. She was also issued a motor-vehicle summons for failure to maintain a lane. She was released to a responsible adult and her vehicle was towed and impounded.
