HILLSBOROUGH -- Jury selection in the trial of a Bridgewater man who allegedly sold heroin to a township resident who later died neared completion Wednesday afternoon in Somerset County state Superior Court.
Christopher Krafsky, 33, was indicted under the state's Strict Liability for Drug-Induced Deaths law in the death of a 22-year-old Hillsborough man on Christmas Eve 2013. A first-degree crime, it carries a minimum 10-year prison sentence.
James R. Wronko, a Someville-based attorney, will represent Krafsky. Assistant prosecutor Merrill M. Mezzacappa will try the case for the state.
Opening arguments are expected to be heard on Thursday morning before Judge Bruce A. Jones. The trial is expected to last a week.

On Dec. 24 at approximately 6:08 a.m., police were called to the victim's Merritt Drive home on a report of an unresponsive male, authorities have said. The victim, whose name has not been released, was found dead of an overdose with drug paraphernalia near the body, authorities have said.
The paraphernalia included a hypodermic needle, an empty wax fold, a water bottle cap, a cotton swab and a leather belt in a loop, authorities have said.
Toxicology tests by the regional medical examiner found that the man died of a heroin overdose, authorities have said.
An investigation revealed that Krafsky and the victim had met the previous night between 10 p.m. and midnight in Somerville to conduct a drug transaction, authorities have said.
Krafsky allegedly admitted to police that he had sold three bags of heroin to the victim, authorities have said. He's being held in Somerset County Jail on $200,000 bail.
