SOMERSET -- Police are investigating an incident in which a pedestrian was fatally struck by a train late Wednesday night on the train track near North 7th Avenue, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office said Thursday morning.
The victim is a male, said Capt. Jack Bennett, the prosecutor's office spokesman. He said authorities are withholding the name of the victim pending notification of the next of kin.
The incident doesn't involve a New Jersey Transit train. Workers from Norfolk Southern were on the scene as of 8:30 a.m.
