The fatal crash is under investigation.
FRANKLIN -- A township man was fatally struck by a box truck near the loading dock area of a grocery store Monday night, Franklin police said Tuesday.
Anthony Bartolotta, 59, of Franklin Park was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick immediately after the crash and was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.
On Monday at 7:52 p.m., Franklin police responded to a report of a pedestrian being hit near the rear loading dock area of the Stop & Shop, located on Route 27 in the Franklin Park section of the township, police said.
There, officers found Bartolotta unconscious and unresponsive, police said.
According to police, a 2010 International box truck driven by Thomas Wirsing, 57, of Kinnelon, was traveling southbound on Old Stage Road and turned into the rear entrance of the store, police said.
The cause and circumstances of the crash are under investigation, police said.
